On this date in Minnesota History followed by an event in Big Stone County History

March 9, 1848 – Schoolteacher Harriet E. Bishop forms Minnesota’s first temperance society.  Temperance societies opposed drunkenness.

March 9, 1880 – School District No. 6 votes to build a school house.  In 1901, organized in Correll was a Coop Creamery Association for the purpose of operating a creamery and cheese factory.
